Connecting The Dots – Week 23 (Provision)
Key Verse: He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries. (Psalms 135:7 NASB)
“Jehovah-Jireh” – The LORD Will Provide, is our emphatic declaration, agreeing with all Creation that God is always Faithful no matter the framework and in every possible context.
• “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
• “If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar…” (Romans 3:3-4)
He cannot lie and He will never deny His divine nature. We can hold on to peace and rest from Him at all times, knowing that He is present with us at all times. His unwavering Truth is as near to our lips as the Holy Spirit is to our hearts (Romans 10:8 NASB), (Deuteronomy 30:14 NASB)
• “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalms 23)
When we consider God’s provision, the key to understanding and wisdom lies not in asking if He can or will take care of us, but in trusting that He is always willing and always able to do more than we could ever imagine. He is ‘I AM’, ‘YHWH’, He is intimately involved in our lives at all times. Whether we notice or not, He is present and participating in every aspect of the lives of those who cry out to Him. To put it very simply, He is God. In that statement lies all that we can conceive or envision and more.
• “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.” (Psalms 91:1-4)
• “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Yes, He is God in everything, “…the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:22-23 NASB). He is God in every breath. He is God in our families. He is God in our finances. He is God in our shelter. He is God in our living and dying. And He is God in our eternity. So, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32 NASB).
“Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” (Psalms 90:2 NASB)
Questions to consider:
1. Think about an area of your life where you clearly see God’s provision. Now ask yourself, “If He is God in this thing, isn’t He also God in ______________?” (You fill in the blank)
2. What do you worry about? Have you asked God about it? Have you put His desire in that circumstance or situation above your own?
